Chao Liu ,CEO of Hemogen, Attends China-Indonesia Business Forum

On October 16th, during the visit of Indonesian President Joko Widodo to China and his attendance at the third Belt and Road International Cooperation Summit Forum, the China-Indonesia Business Forum, hosted by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, and organized by the Department of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Commerce and the China Committee of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, was held in Beijing. Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce Yunlong Gao, Vice Minister of Commerce Fei Li, and Chairman of the China Committee of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce Boy attended and delivered speeches. Approximately 400 representatives from the business communities of both countries attended.


During the forum, Hemogen CEO Chao Liu and Mr. Heru Dharmadi Wijaya, Director of NGI (PT Naleya Genomic Indonesia), signed a memorandum of cooperation on thalassemia gene therapy. Representatives from BGI Group, including Sujie Cao, Tao Xiong, and Wei Cao, also participated in the event.

Yunlong Gao pointed out that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Indonesia, as well as the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping proposing the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" initiative during his visit to Indonesia. China is willing to work hand in hand with all sectors of Indonesia to deepen the implementation of important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, promote new achievements and progress in the high-quality construction of the Belt and Road, and create a model of solidarity, cooperation, and common development among developing countries.

Yunlong Gao stated that the business community is the backbone of pragmatic cooperation between the two countries, and he looks forward to sincere cooperation between entrepreneurs from both countries, exploring more areas of cooperation, creating more business opportunities, and achieving more fruitful cooperation results to make greater contributions to deepening economic and trade relations between the two countries.


President Joko expressed that Indonesia and China have friendly relations and significant achievements in economic and trade cooperation, especially with rapid growth in Chinese investment in Indonesia. In 2013, China was the 12th largest source of investment in Indonesia; by 2022, China had risen to become the second largest source of investment in Indonesia. Chinese companies have made important contributions to Indonesia's economic development. President Joko emphasized that Indonesia's economy has maintained 5% growth for multiple years, with a trade surplus for 41 consecutive months, and the Purchasing Managers' Index has remained in the expansion zone for 25 consecutive months. The demographic dividend is expected to peak in 2030. Indonesia is willing to engage in mutually beneficial cooperation with China and hopes that Chinese companies will seize opportunities to expand investment in Indonesia. President Joko believes that China will soon become Indonesia's largest source of foreign investment.
